Danbury Audi announced that it would be the title sponsor of a new elite level women’s cycling team in 2011.

Earlier this year Danbury Audi, which is one the most successful Audi dealerships in the country, unveiled a masters class men’s team to great success.

Team Danbury Audi officially debuted in May then raced its way to an astounding 16 podiums, including 10 gold and 6 silver medals. Team captain Matt Armstrong plans to announce new additions to the men’s squad soon, but is equally excited to add some of the nation’s top female riders to the Team Danbury Audi roster. “We did a test run with the women in September at the Green Mountain Stage Race in Vermont,” said Armstrong. “We climbed the podium twice, including a stage win. It was a great sign for next season.”

The idea for adding a women’s team came from women’s team manager Greg Wolf, who saw a dire need for one after watching other programs across the country shut down. He was impressed by what Team Danbury Audi was able to accomplish in its first season, so he approached Armstrong and team owner Josh Weeks about supporting a women’s side. “Matt and Josh have something special going on in Danbury,” said Wolf. “Team Danbury Audi is an elite level organization and I know the ladies will wear the colors with pride. They are some of the sport’s top female riders and now they ride for one of its best young teams.”
